Egg Dyeing Fun



When you are snowed-in at home, is there any better activity than Easter egg dyeing??  How crazy, right??  Easter eggs and snow don't traditionally go together, but it definitely makes my Papa Cha-Cha's saying hold true..."There's always a chance for frost and cold until after Easter, so don't plant anything in the ground until after."  

 Mac liked matching the dye tablets to the appropriate color cup and mixing the vinegar to watch the tablets fizz.  The vinegar also left him sniffing the cups over and over :)

 

Mac and I began while Drew was still napping.  I saved a few eggs for Drew to color once he woke up.  Drew and egg dye require all hands on deck! haha

Time for stickers!

I found these cute face stickers and knew they'd be a hit.  Both boys love any type of sticker.

A few finished products.  Only one out of the whole dozen ended up prematurely cracked.  Not too bad, I'd say!

Thursday night "Mr. Grabby" pulled a mug of hot chocolate off the counter onto his face and back.  It totally freaked me out but we rushed him to the tub and let cold water run on the burns.  He was incredibly brave.  Didn't even cry, though he did shiver from the cold water.  Bless him.  If you look closely, you can see the red marks on his nose, forehead and cheek that remained the next day.  I am so thankful that the mug had been sitting for at least five minutes cooling...it could've been a disaster!

Spring? Are You Sure???

 

This past Wednesday marked the first day of Spring...and it also marked the expectation of the first great snow of 2013 for the Ozarks!  I was so ready to trade in my winter boots for flip-flops; my sweaters and jackets for capris and tanks.  But Mother Nature had other plans.  We braced ourselves for a forecast of 2-6 inches of snow, but deep inside, I still doubted any would come to pass.  My doubts were replaced with reality on late Thursday afternoon as a heavy snow began to fall.  By nightfall we had 5 and 1/2 inches of beautiful, powdery snow!!

By next winter's snow, we will have a real sled...Sam and I wanted to join in the fun, but you know we couldn't fit up in a basket!!

Each time we had snow flurries or tiny bits of snow this winter, Mac wished and hoped to make a snowman.  Well, he got his wish!

Mac wanted to put the hat on all by himself.  Between the story of Frosty and the Disney cap, I think Mac was expecting some magic to come busting right on out of that snowman!

This Is Real Life

 Here's some random happenings from around the Taylor house...

Drew enjoying his breakfast.  Thanks to cuz Eldon, the boys were introduced to Nutella, and as you can clearly see, Drew thoroughly enjoys it!

Look at this lil pumpkin's bedhead.  I couldn't even tame that stuff this day and opted for him to wear a hat.  A haircut came just a few days later.

If I can't find something in the kitchen, the boys are my first spot to look :)  They are styling their new "hats." 

The weather has warmed up a bit on a few days, and the other day it was warm enough for a trip to the park.  I love that both boys are now big enough to run around and play.  But I love even more that they are so sweet to each other :)  Mac wanted to push Drew on the swings.

Look At My Humongous Goose Egg!

Mac's been under the weather the past two days :(  Fever and a cough, and as you can see, very sad, droopy eyes.  As I took this picture, I was reminded that I never posted on Mac's big goose eggs...

Here's my little superhero who loves to run and run and run around the house.  Poor thing ran right into the edge of the counter height dining room table.  Even superheros need an ice pack every now and then.

And just about the time the above bump healed up, he received this huge bump.  He was at church, and the kids, according to Mac, were playing a shoot the bad guys running game.  He and a friend ran smack into each other.  This literally was the largest bump I have ever seen on a kid.  But he was still smiling!  I wonder what happened to those bad guys...

 

Mac told everyone for days, "Look at my HUMONGOUS goose egg!"

The Incredible Vegetables!

Someone at the Taylor house has a new obsession with the movie "The Incredible Vegetables."  On a recent trip to Mardel, Mac begged to get the DVD and promised to be good forever if we got it.  Well, who could pass up that kind of promise! LOL  Sam bought it for him, and it has been one of the best fifteen dollar investments we have ever made!  And it's actually very appropriate for life right now as it's on overcoming fears.  And like in all areas of life, when Mac is obsessed, Drew is jumping right on that bandwagon! 

 

So a friend informed me that Larry Boy was going to make an appearance at Lifeway in Springfield.  You know this mama planned the entire Saturday around that two-hour window to take the boys to see their favorite superhero :)  I was so pleased that we did...very fun day for us all!

Though very excited, both boys were a bit hesitant when we first arrived.  And who could blame them...Larry Boy is a very giant life-size cucumber!

Finally giving high-fives all around.  And yes, we did bring our stuffed Bob and Larry :)

Lifeway did a great job with the kid's day.  Snacks and a movie in the back with goodie bags and balloons.  Also door prize drawings.  Despite all of the fun, there was not a crowd beating the door down to see Larry.  So we camped out in the kid section for a snack break.

Watching the new VeggieTales release, which of course we had to buy because it was majorly on sale with a coupon and an additional DVD for free!  Lucky day!

And Mac won a door prize!!  A ten dollar gift card.  My usual "saver" self wanted to advise Mac to save his card for another day when he really wanted something.  But I decided to be a "crazy" mom and let him pick out anything he wanted for ten bucks.  He chose a four-pack of Incredible Vegetables balls, so he could share with Drew :)

After much-needed haircuts, we went to our family favorite, McAlisters.  Drew decided to stick Cheetos in his nose and then in his mouth.  I don't know which was worse, that he was doing it or that we were letting him! haha

 

Driving home after a fun day!  Yes, that's the new DVD cases the boys are holding.  Did I mention that they LOVE VeggieTales??
